Flat Iron Hike
The hike to Flat Iron Rock is quite a hike. It is almost 6000 feet above sea level if you go clear to the top. Heather and I hiked about 4000 feet up, and stopped at what we thought looked like Flat Iron, [it was a flat plateau], and enjoyed our Cliff bar and water. Although we did not continue to the top, [it was later that someone told us that where we were was not Flat Iron], we were none-the-less happy with ourselves, and headed back down the mountain.

At the base of Cathedral Rock is this flat slick rock area where the Vortex is. A Vortex is a place where the earth is especially healthy. Many folks will seek out the Vortex for a place to meditate or receive some kind of spiritual gift from the earth. We visited and found it to be a lovely place, but I did not feel especially healthy or see/feel/hear anything from the earth. I was a nice place to be though. If you look close, you can see mom in the distance sitting and enjoying the Vortex experience.

Hey Good Lookin'
We really did have a nice time in Sedona. A stranger snapped the picture of mom and I, and I took the one of mom. She is modeling her brand-new Sedona hat, and she looks mighty fine.

Tranquil Scenery
As you know, the scenery in Sedona is very nice and calming. These are two pictures that capture some of the nice feeling of Sedona.

Jeep Boy
As some in this family can attest, there is not much that is more fun than a rented Jeep and unlimited mileage. The top picture was taken in the driveway of the place mom and I stayed in Sedona, which is near Cathedral Rock. The bottom picture was taken at the beginning of our Sedona Jeep adventure. Note the iPod hanging...the cable between the iPod and the radio was just a little short, but mom unplugged the cover to the cigarette lighter and tucked it in nicely. Also note, the smile remained in place all day for me, and the better part of the day for mom.

Cathedral Rock
This is the world famous Cathedral Rock, one of the few Vortexes in Sedona. This picture was taken in the early morning, with the sun on the backside of the rick, so the color is not as bright as it is during sunset, but real nice none-the-less. Just for fun I breathed on the lens of the camera and snapped this picture just as the fog on the lens was disappearing.

Flying Saucer House in Chatt Town
Check out this news story about this house we would pass every time we went up to the church building on signal mountain while I was in Chattanooga.

We always joked that it was Elvis' house.

Randy Pausch Lecture
Sometime last year Brother Kenyon taught Sunday School. He quoted from a lecture given by a professor at Carnegie Mellon who was dying. The lecture has become a big deal, and its pretty good. Here's the link if you want to check it out: http://www.etc.cmu.edu/global_news/?q=node/42
